Religious Setting
Hood College, known for its Georgian-style architecture and tree-shaded lawns, provides a charming setting for weddings in Frederick, MD. The popular Coffman Chapel, one of Frederick’s iconic “Clustered Spires,” is a sought-after venue year-round. The scenic Hodson Outdoor Theater, surrounded by beautiful landscaping and majestic trees, offers another stunning backdrop for your special day.
About Coffman Chapel:
Built in 1955 to honor philanthropists Andrew and Gladys Coffman, this historic chapel can seat up to 750 guests. Its 95-foot center aisle, lined with wooden pews and accented in white, creates a traditional and elegant space. The sanctuary features five large clear-glass windows on each side, and both the lectern and pulpit are equipped with microphones. A kneeling bench and communion table are available upon request. In keeping with venue policy, no birdseed or rice may be thrown after the ceremony.
The Organ:
The chapel’s impressive Möller organ, located at the front of the sanctuary with trumpets mounted in the upper balcony, features 41 ranks of pipes. The organ includes a three-manual console and a full pedal keyboard, adaptable for each organist. A grand piano is also available at the front of the sanctuary.
Standard Rental Package Includes:
Two hours for the wedding rehearsal and five hours for the ceremony
One-hour rehearsal time for the organist, if needed
Access to Chapel parking and dressing areas for the bridal party
Audiovisual setup with up to three microphones
Campus Security to open and close the Chapel
Use of the kneeling bench and communion table
