Overlooking the heart of downtown Maryville, TN, SkyView at Broadway Social occupies a space long-beloved by generations of Blount County and surrounding area residents. Before lightning started a fire in 1906, the building was known as the A.K. Harper Store. Rebuilt in 1907 as the J. N. Badgett Co. Department Store, the building thrived as the home of Proffitt’s Department Store from 1919 to 1962. The locally owned business was a favorite for generations of East Tennesseans who traveled from near and far to buy everything from clothing to furniture to farming necessities.Between the mid 1960s and 2000s, the building’s occupants ranged from Oklahoma Tire and Supply Company, Economy Auto, and National School Products. After being bought in the summer of 2016 by new owners, the space was beautifully restored and modernized, SkyView at Broadway Social is poised once again to be a point of Maryville pride.
